"Your German is accent free, you know everything about Düsseldorf and your thoughts on life are super wise!"
How did he react?
He grinned, said "thank you, thank you, that is so nice!"
How did I feel?
The fifteen minutes I spent in Amadou's cab were a true gift. This man is curious about everything- architecture, immigration, and politics are only a few examples- and knows how to chat. His humor and his broad smile make him a great conversationalist; And, of course, his stunning language. He has been in Germany for ten years. If he had not told me I would have been sure he'd lived here all his life. Driving through sunny Düsseldorf with him he pointed out interesting buildings to me and listened to my stories fully engaged. Once he dropped me off at my destination his smile had made its way on to my face and I just had to compliment him. It went super well- an open minded guy like Amadou makes complimenting the easiest thing in the world. Thanks, Amadou!
