Who?
Christina
Where?
Düsseldorf, Germany
What?
"You have been taking care of me so wonderfully! Thank you for your amazing work and devotion. Awesome job!"
How did she react?
"Oh Rosa, you sweet thing! Thank you!" We hugged.
How did I feel?
Christina and I have been in touch for half a year. Finally we met for the first time: She invited me to a show on WDR, a German tv channel, and the film shooting went down yesterday. Two times fifteen minutes on screen, that makes about 50 emails and three phone calls in advance. With others it might have been ten emails, but Christina is different. She cares. Not only did she do a great deal of research and prepared profound questions, but she also made me feel tremendously appreciated. Before, by making sure I got the itinerary I wanted, talking me through the program several times, shooting emails on weekends, not even minding me oversleeping one of our calls. During by coming in sick yesterday and hanging out with me four hours. She answered all my questions about journalism, gave an insight into her own life and taught me some tricks for the shooting so I would not get confused. Together with her two colleagues Christina made me feel cared for.
Looking back on yesterday - which was the best day in 2015 so far - I think I enjoyed Christina's company for several reasons. It was not only her finished journalist performance and her superb hospitality, no. It was her honest smile and the fact that everything she did for her work was her. Christina is more than just a career driven author. She personally devotes to what she does. Everything she prepared carried a piece of her heart in it and I felt honored to see so much of her lifeblood flow into introducing this project.
Thanks a lot Christina. This really meant the world to me.
I hope the energy you invest in your work is appreciated all around you. And that you sometimes take a Sunday off... Or two, or three.
All the very best to you and your team!
