WHO? A Falafel chef WHERE? Bonn Bad-Godesberg, Germany WHAT? "I have been watching your face for the last five minutes. It is so round- I think it is incredibly aesthetic!" HOW did he react? He laughed. He said: "Thank you! I love you, habibi!". I told him about the project and the blog. Delighted to be today's person he agreed to take a picture. On top of everything he gave me the two sandwiches I'd ordered for free! HOW did I feel? Today had been a hard day for me. Until about 10 pm I hadn't been anywhere close to the complimenting-mood. When I went to get dinner I realized the day was about to end and I really had to find someone. I walked around. Looking at people, I was about to say something, anything, to someone- anyone. Even if it wasn't the most honest thing in the world. Just for the sake of being done with it. That's when I entered the Falafel place. "Habibi!", the chef greeted me, "Hello! You look tired." I nodded. "Ah... Habibi", he said, "Just know that I love you." I had never seen him before. While fixing my sandwiches he told me he loved me another two times. I watched him for a while. He was shorter than his coworkers. And his face was unique. He had a small beard and his expression was of a warm glow. His smile made his cheeks go off to the sides of his head, making his face appear even more circular. As he unfolded the bread he kept telling me jokes. While adding some sauce he winked at me. A few moments later I felt encouraged to tell this person about the beauty I saw in his face, honestly. So I did. And again, just like yesterday, I felt great right away. It was a sudden flash of warmth, happiness, joy, lightness, all mixed. It started the moment I finished my sentence. I felt like I was the luckiest girl in the world, leaving the place with that euphoric wave and all the presents the man had given to me: Words, looks and delicious food. I am thankful for these 15 minutes I spent at that place. And for this project.
ANYTHING ELSE (thoughts on the project, changes, observations?)? Nope.
PS I was coming from watching the world cup game USA-Germany. I had been dreaming about having them both displayed on my face for a while. Just in case you were wondering :)
