Olli, Nicole, Kristian
Where?
Bonn, Germany
What?
"I couldn't help but overhear a bit of your conversation. I think you are enormously likable!"
How did they react?
They laughed. Kristian said, "Thank you! So are you, judging from my first impression."
Olli added, "Yeah! And it's a cool project you got there! I really like the idea."
How did I feel?
Very good!
On their way to a business trip, they'd been sitting next to me on the train for 20 minutes of which they'd spent about 15 laughing. I first talked to them when Nicole was holding a tablet case in her hand, asking "Seriously, what is this for?" I watched her for a bit. She put it on like an oven glove, next she pretended to clean a misty window. I said, "I think it's for a tablet." They all looked at me and laughed. Nicole raised her other hand, showing me her Ipad. She said, "I know, it just doesn't fit, so I am looking for other ways to use it." "Oh..", I said. We all had good laugh. I put in ear plugs to focus on a school assignment but I got some of their jokes, all of them appreciative and playful. At some point I caught myself watching them, enjoying their smiling faces, taking in their positive vibe. Sitting next to them was a treat and I realized they might be great candidates for my project. The train was packed yet completely silent (except for them) and I had a bit of a shy day. It took a moment to convince myself to compliment them knowing that everyone else was going to listen, too. Eventually I talked myself into it and it turned out to be great and uplifting, as always, but by the time I was ready to address them they had to get off soon. So no time for stories except for "Hey, you seem like you're super cool!" "Hey, you, too!" "Hey, can I take your picture?" "Hey, sure!"
-Hey, Nicole, Kristian and Olli: Thanks!
